Nicaragua Leon to Granada pictures later

I love talking to the locals especially when they have good information.not make y plan was to go from San Salvador to minauga and then to Leon. On the way a local told me I could get off at leon saving me time and money by not going to Managua and taking another bus to Leon.

Gary would love the hostel. Almost as soon as they finish mopping they start over again. Rumor is they are going to wear the paint off of the tiles.

In Leon I went to the lake with about 20 people. It was nice, the water was cooler than most others i have been to, which was nice, but the waves were pretty strong. One of the "kids" I was hanging out with on the beach asked me why i stay at hostels. Although he was asking due to my age i took no offense. I told him because it is in inexpensive and unlike a hotel you meet a lot of other cool people.

We played some pool, where I reigned again, and Devin the bartender made me a quality caprianni (sp?) Since he was  out of lime and could not make me a mojito.

On the way back it rained pretty hard and we were in the back of an open pick up truck. I was told it would be too cold after about 5 minutes but it felt good. Devin suggested a street lady for local food who always sells out. Good advice...andcheap , quality food.

One of the big things to do here is volcano boarding. I was not interested especially after I saw one gal with cuts on her face. One of the nice Australian gals asked if i wanted to go with them.

Lots of the hostels have lots of animals around, mostly dogs and cats. This place also had a tortoise that would walk up to you and stick his neck up to look at you.

I decided I would either stay in Leon, go to surfing turtle, which is a hostel on an island to just chill out at, or go to Granada. I almost stayed in Leon for 2 for 1 sushi night but decided to go to Granada. I had a nice breakfast and decided to also grab lunch before leaving. The hostel suggested a vegetarian restaurant and I thought why not. I found out why not. Food started at $8.

On the van to Managua a lady was eating tamales. I asked where she got them. I think they were homemade. She shared her food with me.

Granada is a pretty city and not too big or too small. A fellow traveler suggested I stay at entree amigos. I thought I did but it turns out when you go up the stairs there are two hostels and I was at the other one. It was nice but I was the only one in the 8 bed dorm.

I changed to entree amigos. More people, nicer including free water, you can do your laundry and super nice owner, who saved me about $40 by referring me to his lawyer for something I needed notarized. Now if it just arrives in the us in time!

So far I have been relaxing and walking around town.

After I checked out of the hostel a guy from Canada checked in. He seemed nice enough and 3 of us made some rum and cokes and relaxed with plans to go out that night. He has been here about 2 weeks and said he knows the town well and lots of people.

That night we went to town and he ordered 2 for 1 mojitos. When we finished them 2 more arrived.  I put out money to pay half of the bill and Scotty made some comments about how cheap all Jewish people are. I am not sure what he expected....he orders drinks all night and I pay for them? Needless to say I won't be spending any more time with him.

I also found it interesting that the Nicaraguan made comments about how all jewish people are this and all Nicaraguan people are that. I pointed out that you cannot say all about race, religion, profession, sex etc.etc.
