just like home

I learned a new word tonight.....terremoto. It means earthquake. Guess how learned it.... We had a 6.5 tonight. Everybody is fine and there was no damage that I am aware of.

Interesting day. I had a nice grilled chicken lunch with the family but dinner was tortillas beans and sour cream.

Tomorrow is my last Spanish class and Sunday night/Monday dinner will be the end of the homestay.

Monday night and Tuesday night I will stay at Mr mullets hostel.

It has been raining almost every night but not during the day.
After lunch today I went to as bar/restaurant and hung by the pool for a bit. I spoke with a couple, one american and one Canadian. I am surprised at how many people I am meeting that are traveling one year, two years or longer.

The other day I met logan who has been traveling for about 2.5 years.
The neighbor of the family I am living with. He is an avocado farmer.
BBQ sunday. A bit pricey but I am told very good and lots of food.
 A local frog.
Having a cafe with Logan and picking his brain a bit.
This is the family I am staying with. He is a music teacher and he and a friend and his 8 year old son perform locally.
 A beer with Logan
 Nico, my Spanish teacher
Francisco was supposed to be my Spanish teacher but had a conflict
What some people will do for a free room. Interesting rules

Two pictures of the park and church across from the family I am living with
I think I am going to quetzaltenango prior to Antigua.

  1. Hey Bob,

With all that brick, so glad you and the host family were safe during the terremoto.

Figured out why my posts aren't posting, they won't post from my iPad Mini?!?! Don't get it but had typed up a HUGE reply and it disappeared - GRR!

A meal of tortilla's, beans and sour cream is a traditional latin meal. That was actually the twins little brothers favorite meal as a kid.

For news from home, we've been having an Indian Summer. On the down sides with the heat we also have two large fires; one in Yosemite and the other in the Clayton/Concord hills. The air quality has been horrible.

Gris bailed on going to Fun with Gary and me and instead went to visit Zoe and Prince and did play time with them.

You'll have to dazzle us with your Spanish when you get back.

Keep the photos coming and be safe.
