Tomorrow is Guatemala's independence day and the town is crowded with lots of celebrants. There was a car wash owner hosing people down as they walked or drove by. I stopped to watch and they offered me a beer.
For some reason I never got a good directional sense in Antigua. At first it looked like there were lots of street signs but it turns out not. Asking directions or even where are we now is generally a waste of time. It is surprising to me how many people dont know what street corner they are at....and how many give incorrect directions.
I forgot to mention that the rains caused some significant mud slides. On the way to Antigua our bus was the second vehicle in line who had to wait (about 10 minutes) while they continued to work on the roads. Two of the four Lanes were closed and they were clearing the lanes manually with wheelbarrows.
The last two nights I had dinner in little hole in the walls one recommended by lonely planet and one by trip advisor. The first was better than the second, both were reasonably prices, neither were great though. Tonight when I got back to the hostel we all ate together though I could not eat much,
Plans have changed again. I think tomorrow I am headed to semuc chempay.
I decided yesterday to get a massage by the person recommended by the hostel, who is very reasonably priced. I called her yesterday and she said today was better and to meet her at a Corner at 1:00 because she lives in a gated community.
I was out running around and got there at 12:55 and waited until 1:15. When I got back to the hostel I found out she had called and was sick. Oh well.
Adios for now. Pictures to follow some time
