I am going back to winging it or at best only booking one night in advance because there seem to be many hostels not listed on hostelworld.com it is off season so there is plenty of availability (the hostel i thought was sold out only showed that because I was booking less than 24 hours in advance) I can see the hostel and its location and Rebecca said many are willing to negotiate rates.
Hostel Miguel was okay. The family is very nice (the owner is African) the bed was comfortable and he moved me to a slightly better room because I was having WiFi problems but there were no other travelers at least that I saw the door locks and front doorbell are noisy and the utensils were sparse (I could not find a knife sharp enough to cut through pineapple or any forks)
Tomorrow starts Spanish lessons and living with Antonio and his family.
There appear to be quite a few hostels in Antigua, my next destination, that sound good. It will be difficult to decide.
