I bought some fresh fruit at the market, where they sell everything... Even live poultry, then bought some fresh fruit juice and took a boat to pacajachel.
It is a more touristy town, which is why I did not stay there, and I did not see much to do. Did a lot of walking and ended up walking to a church.
After the church I was walking to the next town and met Rebecca from Virginia who was also walking there. I walked about a mile of the two miles and decided I did not want to walk all if the way there and back. I ended up getting a ride there for 3q. There was not much to see so I got a ride back for another 3q.
That is when things got interesting
1) while waiting for the boat I accidentally sat on an anthill
2) email me for details
3) i got on the wrong boat back. I knew when I got off it was not the correct island. What is strange is the boat took off without me anyway even though I asked to get back on. I guess they wanted me to pay another 25q for another boat.
Most of the ports here are named San Something
When I arrived at panajachel I asked if I had come from San marcos . I was told yes so that is where I went back to. It turns out i came from San Pedro.
There is a vegetarian restaurant here which I heard is good called la paz so I stopped in for a bowl of soup. It was just okay.
I will be wary of this new friends other recommendations now.
Hey Bob,
ReplyDeleteLOVE the pics and what a beautiful place. Be patient with the Spanish lessons. I would've cried if I had seen the live poultry or got fined for setting them free.
Have fun!
